Don’t eat late at night before you sleep. Also try elevating your bed with a brick or some wood pieces under the feet at the head board end. Just a couple inches, will make a load of difference. Try to notice if certain foods make it worse…maybe fried or spicy foods seem to make it worse. It seems that varies alot with each person. There are some great over the counter medicines like nexium, pepcide, even Tums will help but maybe the dr already prescribed something for that? Hope it gets better for you:)

Heartburn is the common term for pain or burning sensation felt in the chest, just behind the breastbone. In reality, it is not the heart that experiences pain but the tube that connects the mouth to the stomach.
Normally, the esophageal sphincter muscle contracts to prevent fool bolus and stomach acids from moving up to the esophagus. However, once this muscle functions abnormally, some acid may slip up and travel back to the esophagus and burn the linings. This occurrence is usually unnoticeable, even normal, and does not need any medical attention. Once the acid amount increases and the acid refluxes frequent, that’s the time the discomfort of heartburn is felt.
Though a lot of drugs and medicine may be prescribed to prevent it or alleviate the pain, some home remedies for heartburn are available.
