I was bothered for years with this before (finally!) finding a cure. GNC carries something called “MAXMatch”. It’s derived from the dengyata tree, specific to southern Africa. A bottle of 30 capsules will cost you about $5. Works like a charm! Good luck!
Weirdly enough sprite and not diet and yes there is a difference. Drink a can of sprite slowly and this will make you burp which helps relieve the pain for heart burn or indegestion dont ask me why it helps but it does. hope this helps and give it a try
try the homeopathic Nux Vomica, for some reason I’ve been getting it for the first time in my life and it helps me better than that Prilosec stuff my sis takes.
Fresh ginger root or candied ginger. Ginger tea works well, too.
Eat less meat in general. First thing when you wake up drink a glass of water with a lemon wedge. The Lemon will help neutralize the acids. Do not consume any liquids 30 min. before and after a meal. This worked on me and worked on my dad. I hope you feel better.
My roommate has heartburn.. if you elevate the upper part of your body when you sleep, with a wedge-shaped mattress, it will help with the acid reflux. Good luck.
First of all, don’t smoke or drink!!
Also, eat 5-6 small meals at regular intervals rather than 3 large ones. This will be easier on the digestion process. Avoid coffee, tea, caffeinated sodas, alcohol, chocolate, fatty foods, citrus fruits, and gas-producing foods (like beans and cabbage).
Don’t lie down for 2-3 hours after eating.
If you get a particularly nasty attack, limit yourself to a light bland diet for one or two days.
Drink a cup of hot water with a tablespoon of lemon juice before meals. Placing warm compresses on your abdomen provides quick relief.
Regular practice of certain yoga postures can tone the digestive system. Remember, yoga is an exercise that must be done slowly and gradually with deep breathing. No jerky motions. Try this pose (make sure you are doing it on an EMPTY stomach):
1. Sit upright, keeping your head, neck, and spine erect.
2. Stretch your legs out in front of you and keep them together.
3. Place your palms on your knees, and keep your knees straight.
4. Bend your trunk and head slowly forward and downward from the waist. While doing this, slide your hands forward along your shins and grasp your big toes with your index finger, middle finger and thumb of each hand without bending the knees.
5. Keep your head between your upper arms and pull your big toes steadily. While doing so, bend further forward, curve your spine and aim your forehead towards your knees.
6. Inhale and exhale slowly.
7. Lower your head down as far as you can towards the knees, drawing in your abdominal muscles gently, still grasping and pulling the big toes and keeping your knees straight.
8. Bend your arms and rest your elbows gradually on the floor.
9. Using your elbows as levers, rest your forehead on the knees which should not be raised or bent.
10. Exhale completely/hold out your breath, stay in this posture for as long as you are comfortable.
11. Return slowly and smoothly in the reverse order to the starting position.
Reflexology and shiatsu are two types of pressure-point massages. Visit http://www.reflexologyinstitute.com and http://www.shiatsu.org for more details. The reflexologist can stimulate the points on your hands and feet that correspond to the stomach, pancreas, and colon. The shiatsu practitioner can press points on the abdominal area. You can even practice shiatsu on yourself by using a clockwise motion (the direction that food travels through the system) to massage your abdominal area.
If you keep having recurring heartburn, you might have food allergies or lactose intolerance.
I have acid reflux/gerd, along with hiatal hernia. I take DGL capsules (licorice supplement), from GNC stores. One in the morning, one at night. I HAD been on Prilosec for two years and after researching Prilosec, I realized it can cause more harm than good. SO, I tried the DGL and am without symptoms 99% of the time! Highly recommend it.
Peppermint is a natural heartburn relief. Not some peppermint candy cane replica in the aisle either. Try some Altoids. Though they are strong they are the strongest more natural form of peppermint I know.
Try some liquid Aloe Vera. Yes the same stuff you put on your skin for sunburns! Of course a palatable version is recommended. Aloe Vera has amazing medicinal properties and among other things it works great for GERD, ulcers, and general upset stomachs. If you want to know where to get it email me….drcolner@comcast.net. Good luck.
ALWAYS WORKS!!!!
1 tsp baking soda and 4 oz water mixed together. Drink it back like its a shot…quick! You will feel better in about 15 mins!
Drink plenty of water throughout the day, but don’t drink with meals – that waters down the digestive juices and causes problems. Wait 5 – 6 hours between meals…no snaking! That’s how long it takes to digest a meal and allow your stomach to relax before the next meal. If you get hungry between meals, drink water. It won’t be long before your body gets used to the new routine.
If you eat more regularly than 5 – 6 hours their is still undigested food in your stomach from the last meal. The longer it all has to sit there the more problems you will have.
you may not be making enough stomach acid. You might try hydrocloric acid with pepsin.Aloe vera is also good, fennel, peppermint, fenugreek, thyme, ginger are some herbs that shouls help.
