The Symptoms Of Acid Reflux Gerd For Your Awareness

The Symptoms Of Acid Reflux Gerd For Your Awareness

Acid reflux GERD occurs when stomach acid backs up into the esophagus after eating, causing discomfort known as heartburn, and reoccurs two or more days per week for at least three months. Every year, there are 4.6 million doctor visits related to acid reflux disease (or GERD). This problem is often shrugged off as a random bout of food poisoning or just routine digestive malfunctions, but it should be taken seriously to prevent future disturbances.

Many people are surprised to hear about the more subtle symptoms of acid reflux GERD. Other than the most common – regurgitation, difficulty swallowing (also known as dysphagia), abdominal and chest pain – there are disturbances created by stomach acid that may masquerade as other things.

For example, other less common symptoms include: asthma, chronic cough and a sore throat or water brash – the bitter, salty or sour taste in the mouth that occurs when the salivary glands are stimulated by acidreflux. Generally, if you have chronic heartburn two or more days per week, despite treatment and diet alterations, then you should see your doctor about acid reflux.

What is the best medication for a severe panic attack?

Question by Alex: What is the best medication for a severe panic attack?
My doctor prescribed me .5mg xanax because I’ve been having episodes where I shake profusely and can hardly hold something in my hand. At first I thought this was because of blood sugar, because my blood sugar remains fairly low, but has always been within normal ranges. I changed my diet to b more protein rich and it had no effects on these episodes, the xanax, and even half a pills seems to make the symptoms bearable. But I’ve also had episodes, which again my doctor said was a panic attack while I thought it was again blood sugar, where I begin to get extremely nauseous and mimic the nausea I have with GERD (acid reflux), but then my arm and hands become numb, then my whole body, then all my muscles contract and I can barely move for 10-15 minutes, then I have the ability to move, but my muscle still aren’t quite working and begin shaking uncontrollably. The last episode I had, I took the xanax when I noticed my hands going numb and it barely cut a dent into the attack, it didn’t start working soon enough, but it did seem to help me regain control over my muscles quicker.

So, should I ask my doctor If I should increase my dose for the intense attacks, or is possibly another medication I could try that has a faster onset, and possibly won’t make me so sleepy. I am a bicycle commuter and needed to stop and wait for the medication to wear off during one of the shaking episodes (though I have to end up waiting for the episode to end without the medication and would only be for convienience).

I also have had a mild general anxiety disorder. I’ve tried several different ssri’s and antipsychotics with no helpful effects. I have been managing this very well and have not had a problem for over a year with yoga, meditation, and a calm living environment, these panic episodes have only appeared in the last three months and I was prescribed xanax a week ago (usually a severe episode 2-3 times a week and a shaking episode daily). Also, these attacks have no apparent cause, they just happen.
