Useful Tips Persistent Heartburn – How To Prevent Heartburn

Article by parkerbuer

According to naturopathic medicine having a gallstone or liver flush in many ways helps people relieve a number of their problems including back shoulder and leg pains and even some digestive disorders because of the nature of its cleansing effect — flushing out toxins and all those accumulated and unhealthy fat that’s stored in your gallbladder. Traditional doctors may have a differing opinion about this but the results do not lie. It works.Research studies done by the medical community into the effects of acid and reflux disease on those with asthma have indicated that it can be a contributor to increased symptoms and attacks. The reason for this is apparent when you consider what acid and reflux is and how it affects the throat and esophagus.

Physicians who specialize in gastroenterology diagnose and treat the digestive systems of the body. This is a complex field.

Heartburn is a common problem for many pregnant women. It tends to mostly occur in early pregnancy although some women suffer from it for most of their term. Heartburn during pregnancy occurs when progesterone is released into a woman’s system when she becomes pregnant. Progesterone makes the muscle between the stomach and the esophagus- also known as the cardiac sphincter muscle- relax.

No caffeine, coffee, sodas or chocolate.

Take 1 tsp or so of apple cider vinegar (raw, unfiltered) a day, best in juice.

Add a probiotic in the morning – my favorite for price and potency: http://www.iherb.com/ProductDetails.aspx?pid=2716&at=0 (can get at health food stores, or at iHerb)

A Heartburn Cure – A Change For The Good

A Heartburn Cure – A Change For The Good

Article by Gilbey Scott

If you are wondering about a heartburn cure, you may be thinking about those antacids you’ve been taking and how suitable there are for long term use. For the most common causes of heartburn, over eating and acidic diet, the antacids you are taking are not the heartburn answer. These products don’t promise to be a heartburn cure. In fact the jolt they put into the body are most likely too much or too little. So rather than continue the cycle, why not make a healthy change that really is a cure?

The geometry of the stomach is one of the common causes of heartburn. The angle the food pipe attaches to the stomach can cause problems when you over indulge. Once full, the pressure of the diaphragm will force the food and acid out of the stomach and into the food pipe where damage can occur. Repeated episodes can result in erosion of the esophageal lining.

Not all of heartburn’s symptoms have to be noticeable to qualify for a heartburn rescue plan. Besides the usual symptom of pain behind the breastbone, that can occur during a meal, there are other equally telling signs. These could include a ssour taste in the mouth, excessive burping or belching, a hoarse cough or an uncomfortable tightness from the diaphragm.

Infant Acid Reflux

Just a little info about our experience with reflux.

Benefits And Features Of Nexium Acid Reflux

www.free-health-care.info Benefits And Features Of Nexium Acid Reflux Fortunately for acid reflux sufferers, Nexium effectively treats the symptoms of acid reflux and provides relief for the pain and burning of heartburn. What Is Acid Reflux? The lower esophageal sphincter (LES) muscle connects the esophagus to the stomach. The LES forms a tight seal to keep stomach acid where it belongs in the stomach. When the LES relaxes, acid bubbles up from the stomach and penetrates the esophagus, where it can damages the sensitive lining of the organ. What Causes Acid Reflux? A variety of foods, conditions, and behaviors can trigger an acid reflux reaction. Caffeine consumption, in coffee, tea, or chocolate, can cause the reaction, as can overeating, wearing tight clothing, or being pregnant. What Helps Acid Reflux Symptoms? To some extent, the heartburn and pain of acid reflux can be avoided by avoiding the foods and behaviors that cause the problems. However, this is not always possible. For example, overweight people who are undertaking a weight loss program may have acid reflux symptoms that persist until they can lose a certain amount of weight. Taking Nexium for acid reflux is the perfect solution for people who find themselves in a situation where they need to treat their acid reflux symptoms. By taking the “healing purple pill,” as Nexium is called, acid reflux sufferers can obtain 24-hour relief from heartburn symptoms. What Is Nexium? The official medical name for Nexium

So many problems at once?!? HELP!?

Question by Paula: So many problems at once?!? HELP!?
I posted this yesterday, but no one has answered and I am desperate for an answer! Maybe this time I’ll add more detail… For the past month or so I have been having MULTIPLY problems with my body. To begin with, I cannot poop normally. I only go on average twice a week. When I am lucky enough to go I am either constipated badly or have diarrhea. I eat normal, I drink enough water, fiber (not to much though, I know that causes constipation). Secondly, every time I eat, soon after I am hungry again. I’ll eat a full, complete meal and thirty- forty minutes later, I am hungry again. I try not to eat because I know I couldn’t be hungry again, but even if I have an apple or something when I feel this way, I feel like vomit and my stomach turns. Not like I’m full, like I have the flu. Third, I get “heartburn“, but not on the left side, on the right side of my chest. And finally I am tired, lethargic and overall lazy everyday. I feel unmotivated, possibly I may be depressed? I cry more then ever… I am NOT pregnant. At first I thought this could be, I took three homes tests… all negative. Went to the Dr. and got a blood and urine test, both negative. And I have had two normal, regular periods since this began. Please help, if you have ever had this or even give opinions. Thanks!

GERD Symptoms and Treatment

GERD Symptoms and Treatment

Article by Lois Tipton

GERD is related to the esophagus. The esophagus is a tube connecting the mouth and the stomach. Whatever we eat or drink passes through the esophagus and enters into the stomach. While this is happening, LES muscles are relaxed to let the eatables enter into the stomach and then it closes quickly. In people with weak LES muscle, some contents of stomach get returned in the esophagus and that is called reflux. When this happens it causes heartburn. Now a days, GERD has become very common. Some people experience the symptoms of GERD even daily. Let’s see some symptoms of GERD:Symptoms of GERD:Heartburn:The first symptom of GERD is heartburn. Generally, heartburn occurs after half or one hour after meals. Heartburn may get intense when lying down, exercising or bending over. The burning sensation may start from the center of the chest and gets extended right up to the neck. Heartburn can occur frequently or from time to time but it happens periodically. That means the episodes of heartburn could be more severe or frequent for few weeks or even months and then it may get reduced to less frequent or even stop for few weeks or even months. Normally, heartburn always returns and it is a life long problem.Regurgitation:Regurgitation means that the refluxed fluid appears in the mouth. Mostly, the people with GERD, get a little quantity of fluid back up in the esophagus and that enters into the throat and thus it may come even up to the mouth. Patients of GERD may get the acid taste in their mouth.Nausea:Though nausea is rare in GERD, some people experience it frequently. Severe nausea can lead to vomiting. It is not yet known why some people suffering from GERD mainly have heartburn and others mainly have nausea. There are some more rare symptoms of GERD as follows:• Chronic cough• Morning hoarseness• Chest pain• Asthma• Belching• Difficulty in swallowing• Weight lossThese are the rare but possible symptoms of GERD. If any of such symptoms are observed it is assumed to be GERD first. Once it is confirmed, there are also some treatments available to treat GERD.Treatments of GERD:To treat GERD your medical history is very important. After getting the physical and lab tests done; your health care provider may advice you the line of treatment. There are mainly two types of treatments: non surgical and surgical.Non surgical treatment:Non surgical treatment is useful in initial stages of GERD. In this you may need to change your lifestyle like dietary changes, losing weight, quitting smoking etc. With little changes in your lifestyle you can reduce the frequency of GERD symptoms. Taking antacids could be helpful in relieving the burning sensation. Antacids have been the first line treatment for gastroesophageal reflux. These antacids not only suppress gastric contents but also release the esophageal pressure. You can also try elevating your bed from the head side for about 6 inches to prevent heartburn. It will reduce the reflux by the effect of gravity. Quitting smoking can also minimize the symptoms of GERD. You should also refrain from using tight fitting clothes that pressurize the abdomen.Proton pump inhibitors such as Pantoprazole (Protonix) also help in the treatment of GERD.Surgical treatment:Surgery is considered when medical treatment is not effective. Anti-reflux surgeries are done in two ways: laparoscopic and open. In these surgeries, the upper portion of the stomach is rebuilt to prevent reflux entering into the esophagus. Surgery would be an extreme; you can try using Protonix as it is an effective medication in treating erosive esophagus. It helps in reducing the production of stomach acids hence you will find relief from GERD symptoms.

Protonix may not be effective in getting immediate relief from the heartburn symptoms but it is surely efficient in reducing the pressure on the esophagus. It is helpful in treating any damage caused by stomach acids to the esophagus.
